I went back to read a quick and simple short poem that goes by the name of "The actress" by Dorothy Parker. Since it was very short it was very difficult for me to understand it. If the poem was longer then that means that there would be more detail and make it easier to comprehend. I didn't like it because I just saw no interest it and it never caught my attention. I wouldn't recommend anyone to read this because there are many other poems out there that are better.

The short story "Oedipus the king" which is translated by Dudley Fitts and Robert Fitzgerald is a story/play I am familiar with because I read it in high school. Even though I read it in high school I still wasn't very familiar with it because the writing is hard to understand. I like the details that are included because since it's a play, details are of great importance. I dislike how a lot ideas are put into it which causes the reader to lose focus and maybe get bored. Since it's very old fashioned then maybe that's why I don't like it as much. I would tell someone that likes fiction and old fashioned stories to read this type of literature.

The poem "Cinderella" by Anne Sexton is a good version of the actual story which come from a very simple point of view. It derives from a kid friendly story but the author gave a complete new twist on this. She added a lot of more graphic details like "cutting off the heel" which wouldn't be a part of any children's book in these days. I like how even though she criticizes the original story, her version of it allowed readers to view it from a different perspective. I would recommend it to someone because it's nothing like the original story and will give the reader something to think about.

This week I decided to talk about a poem that I read which is "Medusa" by Louise Bogan. When I read the title I thought of the fictional character that is involved with the movies. I thought the poem made me visualize a lot of the stanzas. It used great senses that help out to picture everything out. I liked the part "and the hissing hair" because that simply summarizes what this poem is all about. It's the most important part of the character Medusa which is what makes her scary. I would recommend this poem to someone who enjoys this character and wants another view on this.

A work of literature that I read this week was "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? by William Shakespeare. Once I noticed who the author was I knew that this was going to be a great work of literature. Even though it might be a bit difficult to understand at first, the sonnet seems to make more sense after reading it a couple of times. I like how the author compared it to a summer day because that sounds really good. It was very detailed which is always important when helping out the reader. I would tell a friend to read this if he or she wants to read something about a calm summer day.

This week I read another poem called "Rite of Passage" by Sharon Olds. After reading the poem I thought it didn't have a big meaning. To me it was just a simple poem describing a kids birthday party. I disliked it because I thought the author could have described the kid a little bit more. It would have helped with the poem and the point that the author was trying to get across. I did like how it related the kids to trying to be grown men and how they act. I would recommend this poem to people who want an easy read and don't like many details.

This week we had to read poetry and poems that were each unique in their own ways. One poem that stood out to me was "Lonely Hearts" by Wendy Cope. The reason I liked it was because it contained imagery in which helped me understand the poem in its complete context. One thing I didn't like was that it was difficult to understand who was telling the poem. Other than that it was a great poem with a great use of words that help out support its theme. I would recommend this poem to someone who needs a little pushing towards love and it might just create something.

The title "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman made me think about furniture for some odd reason. I thought that at first it wouldn't be boring. While reading the story I related the themes to other stories I've read due to its scary vibes. I liked the story because there wasn't a lot going on and it mainly focused on the protagonist. I feel that when the author does that there's a stronger connection with the reader because you know where to look. I would recommend this story to a friend because it's a story that is fresh to the mind and can be seen from many point of views.

"The Storm" by Kate Chopin was a story that seemed kind of boring when I first took a quick glimpse at it. My prediction was completely wrong and I ended up enjoying the story a lot. It's a work of literature that goes straight to the point. I liked it because the story has a very strong connection to the title. The events that go on throughout the story all relate to the storm that is passing by. The storm ended and the characters love ended. I've never read a story where such small events had a huge role to play with the events that go on. I would definitely tell someone to read this story because it gets straight to the point and you won't as confused.

When I first looked at the title of "A Tell-Tale heart" by Edgar Allan Poe I recognized the authors name so I knew that this story was going to be interesting. After I finished reading I knew that this was a masterpiece of literature. The story caught my attention right away because it included a lot of detail I like to know what's going on and with specified details it makes it an easy read. It had a horror type of theme which I like a lot because movies of those genres are also very captivating. I would recommend someone this story because it will make you want to read more of the authors work.
